Words have power. From your earliest years, you discovered this. Your parents delighted when you spoke for the first time. Sometimes it took just one word to get what you wanted, whether it was food or affection.

Words shape your world. Words spoken and heard both tickle your fancy and add color and beauty. They invite you to discover all that is yet unnamed and undefined.

Words bind one to another in relationship. Words of greeting begin friendships. Words of love launch new romances. Words invite your children to know their world like you grew to know yours. They are the very fabric of personal connection.

Words create and destroy. Words have built you up, and words have been your undoing. You’ve lifted others up and with your words, and you’ve torn others down.

Consider the power of words. Power should be respected and celebrated, and it should not be used lightly.
