The Love That Matters

The standards of love are high—so high that it almost feels impossible to try.

Our patience runs too thin. Why should we be kind when no one’s kind to us? It’s hard to keep our cool when someone’s asking for it. It’s too difficult to forgive when we’ve been betrayed. Small kindnesses are possible at times, but how could we ever rise to the level of living a life of love, to give our very lives?

In order for your love to matter, you have to feed from the source of all love. God so loved that He gave His Son. His Son so loved that He gave His life. For you to have any chance at loving well, you simply need to give your life to God. Do that, and you’ll be empowered to love as He has loved.

The love that matters will cost you. But you’ll find no greater return on that investment.
