In your path to more humility, your pride will be exposed, and the good you do should be concealed.

It isn’t about rejecting praise for what you do. We all need that kind of encouragement. And it’s not about keeping all your good deeds outside the public eye. That’s not always possible to accomplish.

It’s more about checking your motives when doing a good thing. Ask yourself, “Why am I really doing this?” Even in becoming a better human being, if one of your main motivations is to receive the approval of others, you’re doing it for the wrong reasons.

Keeping your good deeds secret is a discipline that will humble you. Your pride will tell you to do otherwise, so you’ll have the opportunity to put your pride in its place.

Realize that good deeds have their own reward. More humility is just the icing on the cake.
