Small Tests of Faithfulness

Military trainees are given precise instructions in storing their T-shirts and other clothes. A T-shirt must be folded into a long rectangle, then rolled tightly in a careful manner so that there is a perfect, unwrinkled product at the end.

What does this have to do with soldiering? If a trainee can’t follow such simple, detailed instructions, how can he ever be trusted to operate a rifle or a tank in the heat of battle? Faithfulness in the little things is seen as preparation for the big ones.

Every day, you’re given small tests of your faithfulness: showing up on time, keeping your promises, obeying your superiors. These may not seem like much, but they are your best preparation for staying the course in the heat of battle.

By staying faithful in the small things, you’ll lay a foundation for faithfulness when it really matters.
