Refreshment
Refreshment
You haven’t slept this long in ages. And boy, did you need it. It didn’t seem possible. You were so tired. You had absolutely nothing left. Your thoughts, emotions—completely drained. But now your eyes are clear. You have new energy. Your brain is welcoming new thoughts. The day seems possible again. You feel refreshed.
The world has a rhythm. Just like your breath. It breathes out. It breathes in. It exhausts its energy. It restores. It begins again.
It’s one thing to march to the beat of your own drum. It’s another to always fight against the rhythms of rest and refreshment God has created for you to enjoy. If you want the fuel to enjoy the life that matters, you need to stop and listen for that beat.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” —Matthew 11:28–30
