Beauty
As a joke, some artists have drawn up what the Barbie doll might look like at age fifty: hair with tints of gray, baggy eyes, and a decidedly thicker frame. But still with that blissful, smiling stare.
It represents many more women than the young blonde ever could. It also reminds us that our culture often has an odd standard for what’s considered beautiful.
True beauty is most often appreciated through connection. Husbands still look adoringly at their wives in old age. Parents always see the beauty in their children. You are God’s child, and He’ll always find you beautiful.
When connected to your Creator, you’ll see more and more of the beauty in everything. The beauty of creation echoes back in thanksgiving for what God has made it to be.
Ask the earth and the sea, the plains and the mountains, the sky and the clouds, the stars and the sun, the fish and the animals, and all of them will say, ‘We are beautiful because God made us.’ This beauty is their testimony to God. —Augustine of Hippo
