You Are Sent

How will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”

“Jesus, why did I doubt you? You can use anyone, even someone my age. And thank you for bringing me a new friend in Bahati. She is exactly who I needed.” Ana whispered her prayer as she pulled her sleeping bag toward her chin, ready to get some sleep after her full first day on her missions trip.

When Ana decided to go on a missions trip with her youth group to Alaska, she didn’t know God would send her a new friend as well. Bahati was traveling with her own youth group from Kentucky, and the two girls had a lot in common.

“I’m kind of nervous,” Bahati had told Ana at lunch that day.

“Me too!” Ana agreed. She had secretly wondered how God could use her when so many adults assumed she was still a kid.

“You know what?” Bahati continued. “Even though I’m nervous, I love Jesus, and I know God can work through me—and through you too, Ana.”

The encouragement of a new and supportive friend like Bahati was just what Ana needed. And by the end of the week, Ana found that God had used each of them in a number of ways to show Jesus’ love as they helped with the skits and games they put on for children in the community.

No matter your age, you are never too young to be sent by God out into the world to bring his message. You have relationships with your peers and the ability to speak into their life that adults do not have. You understand other girls your age in ways adults cannot because they did not grow up in the same environment. You are here for such a time as this. And God has plans to use you to bring the good news to the world—starting at your lunch table, on your school bus, on the sidelines of your sports fields, and everywhere in between.

Things to Think About

• Where are places God is sending you that your parents and other adults can’t go?
• Who among your friends needs to hear the truth about God? Who among your friends will stand beside you to share that truth?

DAILY ACT OF FRIENDSHIP

Pray that God would open up conversations with your friends about his love. Be brave and confident to tell them the truth when the subject comes up.
