John 9 - NLT Student Life Application Study Bible
9:1-3 The Cause of Suffering A common belief in Jewish culture was that calamity or suffering was the result of some great sin. Jesus challenged this perspective and used this man’s suffering to teach about faith and to glorify God. We live in a fallen world where good behavior isn’t always rewarded and bad behavior isn’t always punished—innocent people sometimes suffer.
9:1-41 In what ways does the blind man in this passage show faith? See the next turning point of The Bible’s Big Story.
9:25 A Faithful Witness The man who had been blind didn’t know how or why he had been healed, but he knew one thing—his life had been miraculously changed. And he wasn’t afraid to tell the truth about it! We don’t need to know all the answers in order to talk about Jesus with others. Simply explaining how God has made a difference in our lives goes a long way. God will use our words, whether we know it or not.
