How do I know I can be transparent with God? - Vulnerability - TouchPoints
Psalm 62:8O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.
Start by being transparent with God in prayer. Being transparent with God deepens our relationship with him and builds trust for continued honesty in the future.
Psalm 139:1O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.
God already knows your heart. There is nothing you could say to him that would surprise or shock him.
Psalm 51:6But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there.
God created you for a deep and meaningful relationship – not just surface-level connection.
1 John 1:9But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
Matthew 27:46At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”
Even Jesus was transparent with God in his suffering.
Psalm 42:5-8Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again—my Savior and my God! Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember you—even from distant Mount Hermon, the source of the Jordan, from the land of Mount Mizar. I hear the tumult of the raging seas as your waves and surging tides sweep over me. But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life.
If you feel sad – talk to God about it. If you are angry – talk to God about it. If you feel happy – talk to God about it! God can handle your emotions. They don’t overwhelm him or scare him away. Being honest in prayer is the foundation to developing a healthy relationship with God as our heavenly father.
