What are some of the victories I can achieve day by day?

Joshua 1:8“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”

Psalm 119:54Your decrees have been the theme of my songs wherever I have lived.

When we consistently obey God’s word, we will experience victory over our fears, over Satan’s tactics to derail our relationship with God, and ultimately, over sin and death.

Romans 4:20Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God.

1 Peter 1:7These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

If we can trust God with our pain, confusion, and loneliness, we will win a spiritual victory because we will have defended ourselves against the temptation of the enemy to let anger, bitterness, or discouragement defeat us. The next time we face trouble or hardship, we should see it as an opportunity to be victorious over it by relying on God for strength and endurance.

Psalm 4:8In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.

Psalm 29:11The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.

God’s peace does not prevent us from encountering difficulties, but it gives us the resources to gain victory over them.

1 Chronicles 28:20Then David continued, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. He will see to it that all the work . . . is finished correctly.”

The only true failure is one that utterly defeats us by making us unable to try again. Failure wins when we accept defeat and just give up. When we are doing God’s work and following him, we can confidently engage the work with strength and courage, knowing that God will ultimately give the victory.
