Sometimes it feels like I’m under attack. How can I achieve victory?

1 Peter 5:88Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

Ephesians 6:10-1210 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

1 John 4:4-6

5 Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world’s viewpoint, and the world listens to them.

6 But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. If they do not belong to God, they do not listen to us. That is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the spirit of deception.

It feels like you’re under attack because you are. Realize that the spiritual realm is real and it impacts the way you experience life. But with Christ you are neither defenseless nor helpless. The forces against you are also against Christ, but they are not on an equal plane with him. He is stronger than anything and anyone you may face.

Ephesians 6:16In every battle you will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan.

1 John 4:4But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.

1 John 5:4For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.

Every child of God defeats this evil world by trusting Christ to give the victory.

Your first line of defense is to draw strength from the fact that God is more powerful than your problems or your enemies. Your faith in God is a shield that protects you from the temptations and criticisms hurled at you every day. Without strong faith, the weapons of Satan and the arrows shot at you by your enemies would pierce and defeat you. So even when life seems overwhelming, hold tightly to your faith like a shield and you will withstand the dangers and discouragements sent at you. And rejoice—you know that God has already won the victory.

Exodus 15:3The Lord is a warrior; yes, the Lord is his name!

Isaiah 42:13The Lord will march forth like a mighty man; he will come out like a warrior, full of fury. He will shout his thundering battle cry, and he will crush all his enemies.

2 Chronicles 20:15This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

Ephesians 6:11Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.

The objective of the forces of evil is to defy God and to wear down believers until they are led into sin. This pleases Satan and gives him greater power over the earth. But God is a warrior. A battle rages in the spiritual realm and, as a believer, you are right in the thick of it. God is always ready to fight on your behalf, always ready to come to your defense. In addition, he provides you with armor so that you can fight alongside him (Ephesians 6:11-18). But you must join God in the battle or you will be vulnerable and helpless to withstand the enemy. If you join, you are guaranteed victory.
