Deuteronomy 28:20The Lord himself will send against you curses, confusion, and disillusionment in everything you do, until at last you are completely destroyed for doing evil and forsaking me.

Trouble can be self-inflicted as the consequence of your own poor decisions and sin.

Jonah 1:1-17But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction in order to get away from the Lord . . . he found a ship leaving for Tarshish . . . suddenly the Lord flung a powerful wind over the sea . . .

Expect to find yourself in deep trouble if you insist on running away from God.

Psalm 62:3-4So many enemies against one man—all of them trying to kill me . . . They delight in telling lies about me . . .

Trouble is sometimes undeserved and caused by others.

Joshua 7:25Then Joshua said to Achan, “Why have you brought trouble on us? The Lord will now bring trouble on you.” And all the Israelites stoned Achan and his family and burned their bodies.

Jonah 1:1-3The Lord gave this message to Jonah son of Amittai: “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh. You can also experience trouble when other people’s sin affects your life.

1 Peter 4:15-16If you suffer, however, it must not be for murder, stealing, making trouble, or prying into other people’s affairs. But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his wonderful name!

The trouble you experience may be related to your commitment to God. Satan will try to stop you from accomplishing anything for God.
