Proverbs 15:14, 26, 28A wise person is hungry for truth, while the fool feeds on trash . . . The Lord despises the thoughts of the wicked, but he delights in pure words . . . The godly think before speaking; the wicked spout evil words.
Ephesians 4:17-19, 23-24With the Lord’s authority let me say this: Live no longer as the ungodly do, for they are hopelessly confused. Their closed minds are full of darkness; they are far away from the life of God because they have shut their minds and hardened their hearts against him. They don’t care anymore about right and wrong, and they have given themselves over to immoral ways. Their lives are filled with all kinds of impurity and greed . . . Instead, there must be a spiritual renewal of your thoughts and attitudes. You must display a new nature because you are a new person, created in God’s likeness—righteous, holy, and true.
James 3:13-18If you are wise and understand God’s ways, live a life of steady goodness so that only good deeds will pour forth . . . the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no partiality and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of goodness.
Genesis 6:5Now the Lord observed the extent of the people’s wickedness, and he saw that all their thoughts were consistently and totally evil.

Micah 2:1How terrible it will be for you who lie awake at night, thinking up evil plans. You rise at dawn and hurry to carry out any of the wicked schemes you have power to accomplish.
Matthew 15:19For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all other sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander.
Mark 7:20-23And then he added, “It is the thought-life that defiles you. For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, eagerness for lustful pleasure, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you and make you unacceptable to God.”
Romans 1:28-32Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.
When they refused to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their evil minds and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, fighting, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.
Philippians 3:18-19For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. Their future is eternal destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and all they think about is this life here on earth.
Colossians 1:21This includes you who were once so far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions,
Colossians 2:18Don’t let anyone condemn you by insisting on self-denial. And don’t let anyone say you must worship angels, even though they say they have had visions about this. These people claim to be so humble, but their sinful minds have made them proud.
1 Timothy 6:5These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they don’t tell the truth. To them religion is just a way to get rich.
Philippians 4:8-9And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say one more thing as I close this letter. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and heard from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you.

Deuteronomy 6:6-9And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are away on a journey, when you are lying down and when you are getting up again. Tie them to your hands as a reminder, and wear them on your forehead. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Psalm 101:4I will reject perverse ideas and stay away from every evil.
What you do almost always comes from what you first think about. The seeds for your actions, both good and bad, are planted in your heart. Nurture the soil of your heart to produce godly thoughts that are pleasing to God. As you are, so you think, and so you become. Your conduct is shaped by your character, and your character is shaped by the condition of your heart.
