How can I be a strong Christian?

Mark 14:38“Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”

Be alert to your tendency toward sin. Stay alert to temptation, and pray for God’s strength to empower you at your points of weakness.

Isaiah 57:12Now I will expose your so-called good deeds. None of them will help you.

John 15:5“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”

Placing all your faith in your own strength or in other things becomes a great weakness because you detach yourself from the greatest source of strength—God. Stay connected to God, who is your greatest source of strength.

Galatians 4:9Why do you want to go back again and become slaves once more to the weak and useless spiritual principles of this world?

Keep your eyes and heart focused ahead on all that God promises for those who stay strongly committed to him. Looking back will only create setbacks as you long for the comfort and pleasures of past sin.

2 Corinthians 12:9Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

An awareness of your own weaknesses emphasizes God’s strength. God’s strength is best shown when he uses your weakness to do incredible things. Then you know the power is from God, which proves he is working through you as he promises.

Ezekiel 34:4“You have not taken care of the weak.”

God’s people become stronger when they care for the weak. In this way, you are passing on the strength of God’s care for you.
