What does stability in life look like? - Stability - TouchPoints
Exodus 3:13-15Moses protested, “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?” God replied to Moses, “I Am Who I Am. Say this to the people of Israel: I Am has sent me to you.” God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you. This is my eternal name, my name to remember for all generations.”
Psalm 33:11The Lord’s plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken.
Psalm 62:2He [God] alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.
Psalm 93:2Your throne, O Lord, has stood from time immemorial. You yourself are from the everlasting past.
Psalm 121:3-4He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps.
Psalm 143:10Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.
Isaiah 14:24, 27The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has sworn this oath: “It will all happen as I have planned. It will be as I have decided. . . . The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has spoken—who can change his plans? When his hand is raised, who can stop him?”
Isaiah 26:4Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.
Matthew 7:24-27“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
Hebrews 6:17-19God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.
Stability is a condition of our heart and mind, not a lifestyle built on tentative and constantly changing factors. It comes from a growing relationship with God; it is built upon the eternal foundation of his solid character. Stability is not determined by our circumstances, which constantly change and we cannot predict. Stability is determined by the changeless principles and promises of God, which allow us to respond to any circumstance with strong faith and confidence.
