What is generosity?

Deuteronomy 15:7-8“But if there are any poor Israelites in your towns when you arrive in the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hard-hearted or tightfisted toward them. Instead, be generous and lend them whatever they need.”

John 6:9“There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?”

Hebrews 13:16Don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.

Generosity is sharing with someone in need.

Deuteronomy 16:17“All must give as they are able, according to the blessings given to them by the Lord your God.”

Generosity involves sharing your blessings.

2 Corinthians 8:3I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford, but far more. And they did it of their own free will.

2 Corinthians 9:7You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

Generosity is not just what you give but the attitude with which you give it.
