What are the benefits of generosity?

2 Corinthians 9:11-14Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. So two good things will result from this ministry of giving—the needs of the believers . . . will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God. As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ. And they will pray for you with deep affection because of the overflowing grace God has given to you.

Generosity glorifies God and enriches your life. Others will thank God and honor him as their needs are met, and many will pray for you.

1 Chronicles 29:9-14The people rejoiced over the offerings, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord, and King David was filled with joy. Then David praised the lord. . . . “Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours. . . . Wealth and honor come from you alone. . . . Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!”

Generosity reminds us that the things we have are gifts to be shared with others.

1 Peter 4:10God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.

The more generous you are with others the more God’s generosity flows through you.

Acts 20:35Remember the words of the Lord Jesus: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Keeping something may please you, but giving provides you the joy of pleasing God and the satisfaction of helping others.

Psalm 112:5-6Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly. Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered.

God blesses the generous with things that money can never buy.
