What are some gifts I can give to God? - Giving - TouchPoints
Deuteronomy 6:5“And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.”
You can give God your undivided devotion. You cannot truly love God with only part of your heart.
Psalm 51:17The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
You can give God your humbled spirit and repentant heart.
1 Samuel 15:22But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.”
You can give God your obedience. When you obey him, you give him the gift of yourself for his use. This shows God your commitment and devotion to him.
Revelation 1:6He has made us a Kingdom of priests for God his Father. All glory and power to him forever and ever!
You can give God glory.
Psalm 54:6I will sacrifice a voluntary offering to you; I will praise your name, O Lord, for it is good.
You can give God your offerings with a grateful heart.
Psalm 107:1Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.
You can give God your thanks.
Matthew 26:7-13While he was eating, a woman came in with a beautiful alabaster jar of expensive perfume and poured it over his head. The disciples were indignant when they saw this. “What a waste!” they said. “It could have been sold for a high price and the money given to the poor.” But Jesus, aware of this, replied, “Why criticize this woman for doing such a good thing to me? You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me. She has poured this perfume on me to prepare my body for burial. I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman’s deed will be remembered and discussed.”
You can give God your lavish worship.
1 Corinthians 16:2On the first day of each week, you should each put aside a portion of the money you have earned. Don’t wait until I get there and then try to collect it all at once.
Malachi 1:7-8“You have shown contempt by offering defiled sacrifices on my altar. Then you ask, ‘How have we defiled the sacrifices?’ You defile them by saying the altar of the Lord deserves no respect. When you give blind animals as sacrifices, isn’t that wrong? And isn’t it wrong to offer animals that are crippled and diseased? Try giving gifts like that to your governor, and see how pleased he is!” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
You can give God your first and your best.
Romans 12:1And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
You can give your body to God. In other words, you dedicate it to be used for good and not evil. You commit yourself to take good care of your body, which is the home of God’s Holy Spirit, just as you take care of God’s church. You do not allow impure and harmful things into your body because of the damage they can do. When you give your body to God, you receive the wonderful blessing of his Spirit working unhindered through you.
