How much should I give? - Giving - TouchPoints
Deuteronomy 14:22“You must set aside a tithe of your crops—one-tenth of all the crops you harvest each year.”
Proverbs 3:9-10Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.
1 Corinthians 16:2On the first day of each week, you should each put aside a portion of the money you have earned.
2 Corinthians 8:12Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.
2 Corinthians 9:7You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”
While the Old Testament specifically talks about Israel giving God one-tenth of their income, the New Testament encourages us to give what we can, to give sacrificially, and to give with a grateful and generous heart. Giving should be a natural outpouring of our love for God and others. For many, this will lead to giving far more than just one-tenth.
