How does foolish speech hurt others?

Proverbs 18:6-7Fools’ words get them into constant quarrels; they are asking for a beating. The mouths of fools are their ruin; they trap themselves with their lips.

Proverbs 20:3Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling.

Proverbs 26:18-19Just as damaging as a madman shooting a deadly weapon is someone who lies to a friend and then says, “I was only joking.”
