How much faith must I have?

Matthew 17:20“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”

Mark 9:23-24“What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”

The mustard seed was used in ancient literature as an example of something extremely small. Jesus is saying that faith is not a matter of size or quantity. The size of our faith is not what matters. What matters is the size of the One in whom we believe. We do not need great faith in God; rather, we need faith in a great God.
