How should I respond to crisis? - Crisis - TouchPoints
Psalm 57:1Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by.
Psalm 130:1From the depths of despair, O Lord, I call for your help.
Jonah 2:1, 7Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from inside the fish. [He said] “As my life was slipping away, I remembered the Lord. And my earnest prayer went out to you in your holy Temple.”
When a crisis leaves you vulnerable and exposed, seek the merciful protective covering of the Lord himself. Before you reach the end of your rope, call upon the Lord. Your weakness showcases his strength; your crises are opportunities for God to restore and heal you.
Psalm 28:7The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart.
Psalm 46:1God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
A crisis may leave you wondering who can be trusted. But you can be assured that you can always trust the Lord. There are many situations over which you have no control, but God does.
Psalm 119:143As pressure and stress bear down on me, I find joy in your commands.
When crises threaten to overwhelm you, God’s Word is a firm foundation to keep you from falling into a bottomless pit. Draw close to him, read his Word, pray, and continue to obey even during the crisis.
2 Chronicles 20:1, 3, 12After this, the armies of the Moabites, Ammonites, and some of the Meunites declared war on Jehoshaphat. . . . Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the Lord for guidance. He also ordered everyone in Judah to begin fasting. . . . “O our God, won’t you stop them? We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help.”
You are most severely tested in times of crisis. Jehoshaphat faced three attacking armies without the military resources to rebuff them. He turned to prayer as a first response, rather than as a last resort. And God delivered the king and his people in a remarkable way. Crisis becomes a powerful means for God to reveal his care and power on your behalf.
John 16:33“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
Do not be surprised by struggles and crises. During times of trial, remember that God is with you to strengthen you and give you peace. There are lessons to be learned through crises. And always remember your ultimate reward awaits you in eternity.
