What To Wear? - The One Year Sweet and Simple Moments with God Devotional
What to Wear?
I am overwhelmed with joy in the LORD my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding or a bride with her jewels.
Isaiah 61:10
What to wear? What to wear? What to wear!
As a little girl (and now, as a big girl), I have always wanted to have the genie-like powers I used to see on the television show I Dream of Jeannie. With just a nod of her head, Jeannie would be able to change from her harem pants to the perfect attire for any occasion.
Like most women, I enjoy looking nice and feeling put together. My problem is that I do not like to spend time getting ready! But more important than being well dressed and ready to meet the world is being right with God and ready for eternity. It’s a matter of life and death because it is inevitable that each one of us will die. In the blink of an eye, our lives on earth will be over, and either we will be in the presence of God forever or we will spend eternity without Him. Oh, it doesn’t sound very sweet, but it is true. We should ask ourselves now instead of later, Am I ready?
There is only one way to be ready for eternity with God. Today’s prophetic song from Isaiah beautifully describes Christ’s return to redeem our lost world. When we accept Christ, we are clothed with garments of salvation and robes of righteousness. Instead of fretting over what to wear from our closet, we should delight in the Lord’s gift. It is a reason to be joyful!
What are you wearing today? Make sure you have Jesus’ garment of salvation and thank Him every day for that gift.
