Christ Confidence - The One Year Sweet and Simple Moments with God Devotional

Christ Confidence

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

Are you a confident person? Throughout my life there have been so many times when my lack of confidence and my sheer fear held me back from doing things I really wanted to do. I missed out on not only the experiences but also the possibilities of being a blessing and being blessed. To this day I’m shy about picking up a tennis racket, because I never really learned how to play. In college, cute boys would occasionally ask me to play a match with them, and I would decline because I was too afraid I’d fail. Failing alone is hard, but failing in front of someone is horrible!

That happened at my first piano recital. I had been taking piano lessons for about a year when my teacher said we would be preparing a piece for that event. I was terrified just thinking about it. I got a new dress and, at my mom’s insistence, spent a day at the beauty parlor in preparation for the occasion. At the recital when it was my turn to perform, I walked onstage in a full auditorium, sat down on the bench, put my hands on the keys for a moment, then got up and walked off without even playing a note! (But I thought I deserved their sweet round of applause just for walking across the stage.)

A personal relationship with Jesus Christ replaces our earthly confidence with Christ confidence. He gives us strength to do everything He has planned for us. And when we need a boost, He’s always there to provide it. His strength is truly one of the greatest visible changes He has made in my life—from having no earthly confidence to embracing robust Christ confidence!

What areas are we ready for Him to change in our lives today? Make a list right now and confidently share those areas with Christ.
