Created For Great Things - In the Evening When I Rest
Created For Great Things
Lord, I often feel nondescript and ordinary. Do you even know I’m here?
I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart. I am watching, and I will certainly carry out all my plans. For I know the plans I have for you. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 1:5, 12; Jeremiah 29:11
How can I start living out this wonderful plan you have for me?
If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you. Remain faithful to the things you have been taught—the holy Scriptures. They have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
Jeremiah 29:13-14; 2 Timothy 3:14-15; Ephesians 6:18
What can I pray when I feel uninspired?
God, in your grace, you freely make me right in your sight. With your help, I will do mighty things. For I am your masterpiece. You have created me anew in Christ Jesus, so I can do the good things you planned for me long ago.
Romans 3:24; Psalm 60:12; Ephesians 2:10
No matter how ordinary and insignificant you feel, God’s Word affirms that you are special and have purpose—that you are God’s masterpiece. Look at a classic work of art. Notice the intricate details and how the art reveals so much about its creator. Think about how that piece has influenced people across time. That captures the essence of how important and valuable you are to God. How does this perspective empower you? What is one good thing you can do as God’s masterpiece that will reveal the Creator to someone else?
