SECRETS ARE OFTEN seen as negative, and sometimes they are. When shame, guilt, or embarrassment motivates us to keep secrets from our loved ones, this usually ends up causing damage to our relationships. God wants us to live as though we have nothing to hide. However, Scripture does state that some secrets are intended to be kept just between us and God. First, our good deeds are meant to be kept secret so they don’t draw the attention of others. And second, any secrets we know about others are not ours to tell. The ability to keep a secret is an important character trait we can develop. Are you trustworthy to keep a secret? Look to God’s Word to help you gain wisdom about when to reveal the truth and when to keep things hidden.
