Salvation - 365 Questions for a Woman's Soul

salvation - If I am saved, does that mean I am free to do what I want?

We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.

Romans 6:6-7

Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

2 Corinthians 5:17

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

1 John 4:7-8

THE ANCIENT church father Augustine famously said, “Love God and do whatever you please.” We are free to do what we want, but those who truly love God and have accepted his beautiful gift of salvation will not want to do anything that would hurt him. When we accept Jesus Christ as Lord, we have a guaranteed inheritance of eternal life in a perfect world, with everything we could want or need. And when we truly grasp this truth, it will change the way we live. We will no longer feel the need to live for this world and the empty promises it holds for us. Instead, our hearts will live for eternity and for the one we will spend it with. Ask God to give you a heart that truly seeks and loves him, and watch how he aligns your desires with his.
