When I remember I must follow Jesus daily

PRECIOUS SAVIOR,

When I gave my life to you, I know that was a once-forever experience. You forgave my sins—past, present, and future—gave me eternal life, and sent your Spirit to live in me. If I’m not careful, however, I can begin to rest in that and forget your challenge to daily follow you. As a finite human being, I am subject to the cycles of days, weeks, months, seasons, and years. And I’m growing and changing and working to meet the challenges that each one presents. I don’t know why I think my spiritual life should be any different. My faith should be a day-by-day experience of turning away from sin, dying to self, and following you closely. You expect no instant saints, just faithful disciples who meet challenges and do as you say each and every day. Help me to see each new day as a fresh opportunity to take up my cross and follow you.
