One Day At A Time - Leaning on the Promises of God for Moms
One Day at a Time
To follow Jesus, we must carry our cross. We must give up our lives, die to ourselves—our expectations, dreams, and rights—in order to be surrendered to His Kingdom and His work. This, of course, goes against the world’s priorities and is not understood by most people. We must be single-minded, as all good soldiers must be in a war, and remain faithful to Christ.
We are not of this world but rather waiting for the time when we will spend eternity with Jesus in heaven. We must prepare our children for this and model to them the type of sacrifice it requires from Jesus’ followers to lose their lives for His sake. Serving in love is the bottom line, even if it costs us our lives.
Moms, God is calling us to a work that is quite important—He will give us the strength and supply us with wisdom one day at a time. He will listen to our prayers. But most of all, we have to be willing to bend over backwards to meet our children’s needs, to encourage them, to help them figure out a new game plan when necessary, because we are God’s guards in a fallen, tempting world. We are His hands, His words of comfort and wisdom, His voice to tell our children that we love them and believe in them because God loves and believes in them, even in the midst of their immaturity.
His Promises
Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.
For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ
