God Said It–that Settles It! - Know Your Worth
God Said It–That Settles It!
“God looked over everything he had made; it was so good, so very good!” Genesis 1:31 (MSG)
Let me start by asking you a question: Where do you find your worth? And I’m not talking about in terms of monetary value, social media followers, or the number on the scale. What I mean is, what is the source of your worth?
The truth is, we can spend a lifetime chasing an inauthentic version of ourselves simply because we fail to understand that our worth does not come from our achievements. It doesn’t come from what we do or who we try to become, or whether we meet society’s standards of worthiness. Our value was established from the very beginning of time, and we can still stand on that truth today.
It’s easy to feel inadequate when we focus solely on ourselves. It goes against the culture to be content with who we are and to let that be enough. We’re accustomed to striving for more, creating polished and glamorous online personas, and boasting about the highlights of our lives. We mistakenly believe that capturing the attention of important influencers or amassing a large following will finally make us feel seen. However, over time, all those temporal things fade away, and we’re left feeling as though something about us isn’t quite good enough.
But the reality is, you are already good enough. And there’s nothing you can do to change that. Why? Because God says so. Genesis 1:31 says, “God looked over everything he had made; it was so good, so very good!” Not only did he create us and declare that we were “so very good,” but he also made us in his image, reflecting his nature (Gen. 1:26, MSG). How incredible is that?!
Instead of measuring your worth by numbers, accomplishments, popularity, or anything else for that matter, shift your focus toward the one who created you and called you good. Everything else diminishes, but Jesus knows everything about you and loves you more than you can ever imagine. He remains constant yesterday, today, and forever, and if He deemed you “so very good,” then that’s the final word. Stop searching for ways to prove your worth by the world’s standards and find rest in the assurance that your worth was established even before you took your first breath.
