You Are Needed In God’s Great Kingdom - In the Morning When I Rise
You Are Needed In God’s Great Kingdom
Lord, what is the body of Christ?
Even before I made the world, I loved you and chose you in Christ to be holy and without fault in my eyes. I decided in advance to adopt you into my own family by bringing you to myself through Jesus Christ. This is what I wanted to do, and it gave me great pleasure. And the church is Christ’s body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.
Ephesians 1:4-5, 23
How can I possibly make a difference in the body of Christ?
Just as your body has many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. There are many parts of Christ’s body, and you all belong to each other. In my grace, I have given everyone different gifts for doing certain things well. I make the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.
Romans 12:4-6; Ephesians 4:16
What can I pray to motivate me to better serve the body of Christ?
I thank you, Christ Jesus my Lord, for you have given me strength to do your work. You considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve you. Oh, how generous and gracious you are! You filled me with the faith and love that come from you, Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 1:12, 14
The church is filled with people who have a wide variety of gifts and talents. Your role is to discover how God has gifted you and to use your gifts to serve others. Are you currently serving the body of Christ in some way? If not, consider where you might be useful and jump in. Ask your pastor what needs your church has. When you participate in the church, your faith is strengthened and God’s Kingdom advances against the darkness.
