When Surrender Becomes Victory - In the Morning When I Rise

When Surrender Becomes Victory

Lord, what does it mean to surrender my life to you?

I showed my great love for you by sending Christ to die for you. Give yourself completely to me, for you were dead, but now you have new life. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in me. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

Romans 5:8; Romans 6:13; Matthew 16:25; Colossians 3:3-4

Does surrender always mean giving something up? Is it worth it?

The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus. Press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which I, through Christ Jesus, am calling you.

Matthew 13:44; Philippians 3:8, 14

What can I pray to surrender my life to you?

O LORD, you are my Father. I am the clay, and you are the potter. I am formed by your hand. O LORD, I give my life to you. I’ve given up everything to follow you. Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart.

Isaiah 64:8; Psalm 25:1; Mark 10:28; Psalm 119:34

Surrendering to God means giving him control of your life. You can make plans, but always be open to God’s plan for you. He always wants what is best for you. Read Philippians 3:8. What comes to mind as you think about the supreme value of knowing Christ? What areas in your life feel difficult to surrender to God?
