What Is God Doing on the Sabbath?

Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath.”

Mark 2:27

Scholar Eugene H. Peterson said, “If you don’t take a Sabbath, something is wrong. You’re doing too much, you’re being too much in charge. You’ve got to quit, one day a week, and just watch what God is doing when you’re not doing anything.”^a

Read the above verse again slowly with this quote in mind. Then ask the Lord what need of yours he desires to meet by giving you a Sabbath.

A need for rest?

Worship?

Surrender?

Comfort?

Healing?

End the week by thanking God that he cares enough to meet your needs through the Sabbath.
