Growing Your Service - Habits of the Heart

Growing Your Service

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Psalm 37:7, NIV

Hymn writer P. Doddridge wrote, “Blest are the humble souls, that wait with sweet submission to his will; harmonious all their passions move, and in the midst of storms are still.”a

As you wait for God to do his work in situations you can’t control, don’t be idle.

Serve him where you are, doing the little things right.

Ask God how he might want you to use your times of waiting. Does he want you to be still?

To rejoice?

To read his Word?

To pray?

To serve someone else?
