Finding Jesus In The Everyday - Joy in Jesus
Finding Jesus in the Everyday
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Colossians 3:17, NIV)
Have you ever felt like your days blur together—just a whirlwind of meetings, errands, chores, and distractions? By the time your head hits the pillow, you wonder where the time went and maybe even whisper, “Jesus, where were You today?”
The truth is, He’s closer than we think. Jesus isn’t waiting for us to find a perfectly quiet, sacred moment to meet with Him. He’s right here, in the middle of our messy, everyday lives, weaving His presence into our ordinary moments.
Here’s the beautiful reality: If you belong to Jesus, His Spirit lives in you—His very essence dwelling within your heart. That’s why Scripture speaks of us as the Body of Christ, called to be His hands and feet. When we offer even the simplest act of kindness—like a cup of water in His name—it’s as if we’re offering it to Jesus Himself.
Colossians 3:17 reminds us that every word, every task, every action—no matter how small—can become an act of worship when we do it with gratitude and intention. Think about it: folding laundry, cooking dinner, or answering emails can be holy work when you invite Him into those moments. He transforms the ordinary into extraordinary simply by His presence.
In God’s kingdom, there’s no divide between “sacred” and “secular.” All of life belongs to Him, and all of it can point to Him. Even the unnoticed, mundane moments filled with distractions are opportunities to draw closer to Him. When we learn to live with an awareness of His presence, we discover that joy isn’t found in perfect circumstances—it’s found in walking with Jesus through everything.
Reflection:
Today, take a moment to pause and invite Jesus into something ordinary. Maybe it’s your commute, washing dishes, or playing with your kids. As you do, ask Him to help you see His presence right there. How can you worship Him in the middle of your routine?
Closing Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for being with me in every moment. Open my eyes to see You in the small things and help me live with an awareness of Your presence. Let everything I do—big or small—be an offering of love to You. Amen.
