Once we allow negative thoughts to take over, they have enormous power to make us sink into despair. However, when challenges come our way, we can consider this: What if hard times and life struggles are raw materials that God uses to show us his mighty work in our lives? While it is hard to be thankful for the tough times, what if God promised to help us be thankful in them? Our outlook on life is a powerful factor in how we view our problems. If we see them only as obstacles, our attitude will likely be bitter, cynical, and hopeless. If we see our problems as opportunities to deepen our trust and relationship with God, we will rise above them and even thank God for them.
