Negativity - 365 Questions for a Woman's Soul

negativity - How can I protect myself from a negative attitude?

Let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

Ephesians 4:23-24

I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Philippians 4:11-13

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

GIVING IN TO DISCOURAGEMENT during hard times is a slippery slope. Once we allow negative thoughts to take over, they have enormous power to make us sink into despair. However, when challenges come our way, we can consider this: What if hard times and life struggles are raw materials that God uses to show us his mighty work in our lives? While it is hard to be thankful for the tough times, what if God promised to help us be thankful in them? Our outlook on life is a powerful factor in how we view our problems. If we see them only as obstacles, our attitude will likely be bitter, cynical, and hopeless. If we see our problems as opportunities to deepen our trust and relationship with God, we will rise above them and even thank God for them. And when future problems come our way, we will have the strength and faith to face them with God’s perspective.
