A prayer about Grief
When I am grieving
Dear Jesus,
I am grieving a huge loss in my life. This process is not swift, nor is it a steady progression. Even after a good week, a good laugh, a theological insight, or a renewal of hope, I start to weep again. I know this is part of getting through a major life change, but I can’t help but feel that there is something wrong with me. Lord Jesus, please remind me that healing is taking place and that I need to allow myself time to grieve. Some days are so difficult, and I wonder if I’ll ever fully heal. When the dark days come, remind me that you are by my side and that you care about my pain. When I am full of despair, please carry me. Lord, comfort me in my grief and heal my heart. I am trusting in you to see me through this difficult time.
I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. Lamentations 3:20-23
