A prayer about Needs
When I worry about not having enough
DIVINE PROVIDER,
You give generously to me, so why do I worry about running out or not having enough for the future? Sometimes trusting you each day is difficult, Lord, and I can become tight fisted. Today I became aware of someone who needs financial help. I feel you urging me to open my checkbook, but according to my calculations, I’m running a bit short this month. I want to trust you, but letting go is a struggle. This has happened other times—a donor letter from a friend in Christian work, an appeal from a visiting missionary, an urgent request from an agency dealing with disaster victims, our church’s general fund. And each time I have responded, you have blessed me with more than enough funds to cover my bills. Occasionally I daydream about having a windfall of money—then I certainly would be generous! But maybe not. And perhaps you’re allowing me to have just enough so that I will learn to trust you more. So right now, before going to sleep, I am going to write that check I have been reluctant to write.
God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 2 Corinthians 9:8
