A prayer about Future Fears
When I am concerned about what lies ahead
FATHER GOD,
I remember the plaque on the wall that read, “I may not know what the future holds, but I know who holds the future.” It’s true! But I sometimes act as though it isn’t, or I simply forget. You do, in fact, hold the future because you are all powerful and know everything; nothing happens outside of your knowledge and control. I also believe that you want the very best for me and are always with me. And looking back, I see how you have worked in my life. So why am I afraid of what might happen tomorrow or next month or next year or ten years from now? Even when I expect to face a difficult challenge—job interview, conflict-resolution session, awkward relationship, financial deadline, court date, or hospital operation—I should know that you will work out everything for my good and your glory. You have promised to do exactly that. Please calm my fears and help me hold on to the truth. I want to walk confidently into the future, one step, one day, at a time.
Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me. Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish. Isaiah 46:9-10
